Medical Diagnosis using Artificial Intelligence – Application to Retinal Images

Artificial intelligence can help the medical specialist to make a better diagnosis and detect a pathology at an early stage. Specifically, retinal images can contain very useful information for the diagnosis of eye conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma or age-related macular degeneration, among others. Such diseases can become a major public health problem. This talk aims to provide an overview of the application of artificial intelligence techniques to this problem, showing the current situation and some of the future challenges that lie ahead.
